Welcome to the Investigative Training Institute's On-Line Training Program!
We're excited that you've chosen to explore our dynamic Private Investigation Course. Over the years, both men and women have selected our training due to our team's extensive expertise—with over 35 years of professional investigative and protection services experience. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge and helping you master the essential skills and methods of professional private investigation.
This comprehensive online course consists of carefully structured modules delivered over a two-week period. Upon enrollment, you'll gain daily access to each module, beginning with Module 1: Introduction to Private Investigations, followed by Modules 2, 3, 4, and continuing through the entire curriculum. To support your learning journey, we will host four interactive Zoom meetings (two per week). These sessions offer the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions, discuss the course material in-depth, and ensure you fully understand the exciting world of private investigations.
Each module concludes with a brief open-book test to reinforce your understanding of the concepts. At the end of the course, you'll complete a comprehensive final open-book test, after which you'll receive a certificate of completion by mail—perfectly suitable for framing.
Please note, this course is not intended to glamorize the profession or portray a fictional spy scenario. Instead, it provides a realistic, practical, and thorough understanding of the role of a professional private investigator. You'll learn about surveillance tactics, background investigations, due diligence, insurance and fraud investigations, open-source intelligence (OSINT), social media investigations, product infringement investigations, counter-surveillance techniques, technical surveillance counter-measures (TSCM), covert camera usage, and much more.
Additionally, we offer hands-on, immersive training twice a year in Chicago, IL—a rigorous seven-day, "boots on the ground" experience designed to further enhance your practical skills and investigative proficiency.

Certification:
At the conclusion of the course, you will take a mostly open-book test covering the core concepts you've learned. Within a few days, you will receive your Certificate of Completion in Basic Private Investigations Online Training, proudly issued through the Investigative Training Institute.
